The outspoken New York poet behind our Fall 17 campaign.
Explore More
Rachel Kang’s poetry explores universal themes like love and feminism. Now based in Queens, her peripatetic childhood broadened her experiences and gave her a worldly outlook early on in life. Commissioned by DVF to write a love letter to New York, her poem—which features as the voiceover throughout our Fall 17 campaign—is invigorating and honest, observational and personal, evoking the spontaneity and diversity of the city’s streets, and the independent and authentic spirit of the modern DVF girl.

“I would like to be colored in with crayons and kid sounds… / for what I dare to dream / is the woman I will become.”

As Seen In – Vogue

“I only wear things that mean something to me,” Rachel tells Vogue this month. Which may explain her natural compatibility with the DVF Fall 17 pieces she modeled in the shoot. Choosing her clothes as carefully as she chooses her words, Rachel is radiant in a print-mix look featuring our Belmont leopard print, striped Angora wool, and orange faux fur coat. So too does she wear Jonathan Saunders’ now-signature, multi-print, collage dresses with ease, whether pared back with our simple Pleat Front Dress Pant or black Jelena Turtleneck.

Self-assured and strong, Rachel tells Vogue, “Poems can be time capsules to moments that are too beautiful to live beyond a certain period of time.”
