DVF Celebrates International Women’s Day
Beginning on March 8th, International Women’s Day, DVF will be opening the doors of our Meatpacking home to the public for a four-day celebration of women who inspire, empower, and who take charge in their fields. Among the events and celebrations will be a series of morning panel talks taking place on March 8th and March 9th. From female entrepreneurs, to iconic women authors and business leaders, there’s something for everyone. Throughout the week, we’ll also be giving back 20% of all purchases to VV Grow, a global accelerator program for women entrepreneurs led by Vital Voices. Look out too for our IWD events at DVF, 25 Bruton Street, London and DVF, 29 Rue Francois, 1er, Paris. To sign up for an event, or for more information on DVF’s IWD celebrations, visit our events page here.
DVF Honors Female Oscar Nominees
Ahead of the 90th annual Oscars, Diane von Furstenberg, Salma Hayek Pinault, Dawn Hudson, Kathleen Kennedy, Cheryl Saban, and Kimberly Steward—all friends of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures—co-hosted a luncheon in LA at Diane’s home to celebrate the female nominees of this year’s Awards. In attendance were such notable guests as Ava DuVernay, Laura Dern, Greta Gerwig, Felicity Huffman, Charli XCX, Miranda Kerr, Rashida Jones, and more. In an empowering speech, Salma said, “Everybody here is a survivor. And with all the exciting things we have accomplished, how exciting that the best is yet to come."
The March For Our Lives Rally
Galvanized by the senseless school shooting in Parkland, Florida, and the subsequent inaction on the part of republican lawmakers to limit access to assault rifles, the Parkland, Florida students organized a rally in support of gun control. Named the March for Our Lives Rally, it’s scheduled to take place on March 24th in Washington D.C.; however, for those who cannot make it to D.C., there will also be other, local marches that you can attend throughout the country.
