Journey of a Dress: Emma Roberts

July 16, 2014

The wrap dress continues its epic journey with the beautiful Emma Roberts on a beach in Malibu. And we are traveling vicariously, aka watching this video over and over! We were also lucky enough to catch up with Emma on her style icon, the words she lives by and the must-have she is searching for this season.

Tell us more about your Journey of a Dress.

I remember when I was about 12 seeing my friends’ older sisters wearing this fabulous dress. It seemed to capture effortless glamour and at 12 I was in awe.  I soon found out this was a wrap dress designed by Diane von Furstenberg. I couldn’t wait to get older and be able to carry off a dress like that. I started working a lot and when I was 15 I saved up my allowance and bought my first wrap dress. It was black and white and I loved tying the waist belt in different ways for different occasions. I would wear it to birthday parties and meetings. With flats or heels. I felt so mature and like I could do anything. Now when I put on the wrap dress I still smile to my 12 year old self. Especially now because I am part of the journey!

How would you describe your personal style?

I’m pretty laid back. You can always find me in jeans and boots! I love a great pair of denim. For red carpet I always wear dresses though. My style icon is Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. She does glamour but will also wear sweat pants!

What does the wrap dress mean to you?

The wrap dress always makes me feel confident and that’s what getting dressed is all about!

What is your must-have item this season?

This season I am on the hunt for the prefect pair of denim shorts which are surprisingly hard to find. I’m also coveting a white leather purse. I have so many black bags!

Diane loves mantras. Do you have any words that you live by?

Be present! It’s something everyone forgets with twitter and Instagram and work! Enjoy the moment. Love the time with your friends and family and also yourself! It’s something I have to always remind myself.
