High Expectations: The After Party

September 10, 2013

Post show, the celebration continued as we headed downtown to toast the collection in style at yet another Oasis: New York’s beautiful “park in the sky,” The High Line. At the base of its new Diller-von Furstenberg headquarters, strings of light shone like stars over the likes of Jessica Alba, Naomi Campbell, Lily Donaldson, Dree Hemingway and Andy Cohen—whose parents (his dates for the evening) looked on proudly as he stopped for photos. Diane’s own husband and children were also there to toast her as the sun set over the Hudson River, ushering in a sizable breeze that seemed to blow everyone’s hair just to the height of glamour. Also spotted were Derek Blasberg, Lily Kwong, and Zani Gugelmann, while DJ Harley Viera-Newton kept the party going with tunes that echoed the upbeat fun of the runway.

As revelers enjoyed sweet nectarines and lamb whilst sipping a delicious peach and mint concoction, Wardell took the stage before a captivated crowd. Jessica Alba danced in a tanzanite blue gown as front woman Sasha Spielberg belted a sultry version of “Bette Davis Eyes,” in none other than a classic wrap dress.

As Harley resumed her set after the show, and the models heels began to take their toll, the evening looked like it might be drawing to a close. And then, for the second time that day, Naomi flew in, hair flowing in the wind, making her way straight to Diane’s banquette.

Suddenly, the party was just getting started.
