This moment is all about maxi dresses and our Senior Manager of Communications, Elizabeth Luby, turned out in our classic Abigail dress on Tuesday, for a breakfast with Marie Claire magazine at Café Cluny in the West Village. So we caught up with her for a few tips on how to wear the season’s most effortless silhouette. Here is what she had to say:
How would you describe your maxi dress style?
I dress fairly casually (as many of my coworkers can attest), and comfort is always paramount. Maxi dresses are perfect for me for this reason—they make you look stylish and pulled together yet require very little effort.
Tell us how you wore it.
I paired my maxi dress with a leather biker jacket to give it a little more of an edge and threw on a pair of Chanel flats for the walk to breakfast! I love the West Village and it’s so close to work that whenever I have a meeting there, I always walk. The bag is DVF, from our High Line Collection, and just big enough to fit all of my work essentials.
How would you take it from day to night? Work to weekend?
I chose the printed wrap maxi because it’s the perfect day dress—it’s flattering on the body without being too over-the-top, and it’s easy for both work and weekend (sleeves are key). For evening—I had a friend’s birthday party at Hotel Americano the following night— I switched to a black chiffon version with a beautiful neckline that was long enough to wear with heels.
