Anna Cleveland

Anna wears the New Jeanne Two wrap dress in Riviera buds and the Thea mesh wrap necklace.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Say three things I’m thankful for. Positive reinforcements.

What inspires you?
Fashion, jazz, dancing, fairy tales, and especially artists who are limitless and multitasking.

What are you most proud of?
Being born in the fashion industry, an industry where people are able to visualize, create something from just an idea, and offer constant new creations to the world.

What does the wrap dress mean to you?
Ease, elegance, timelessness, the symbol of a strong woman achieving her dreams. Roll up that dress and pack as many as you want—you’ll never be charged for an overweight bag!

Because it is thanks to those people that you grow and learn about yourself.

What woman from history would you have liked to be?
Diana Vreeland.

When do you feel most fearless?
When I’m dancing.

Once Upon A Time…

I too was at the beginning of my life! I was not sure what I wanted to do, but I knew the woman I wanted to be… independent, free, and in charge of my own life. Fashion turned out to be my “path to freedom” and as I gained my own confidence with the success of my wrap dress, I gave confidence to others via that little dress. Four decades later, that little dress has evolved but its magic continues to inspire new generations of girls who want what I wanted: to be effortlessly sexy and always on the go!

Here are a few young women who inspire me and who remind me of how I felt at the beginning of my adult life, at a moment when the world is full of endless possibilities!

Go for it, girls… be the women you want to be!

Love,
Diane

I got interested in production two years ago. I had the desire to participate in the creation of a beautiful project. I produced an American movie, “Night Moves” by Kelly Reichardt, only because I was a fan of her work. I also produce some short films. Those projects are put together through will and determination.

“Satan’s Tango” by Béla Tarr. The film lasts 7.5 hours. I watched it during a retrospective of the director at the LACMA. The experience was so powerful that I will never forget this movie.

Clotilde de Kersauson

Clotilde wears the New Julian Two wrap dress in vintage tie.

What does your mantra mean?
Even though the idea that a woman’s place is in the kitchen has been the symbol of trapped women who have to be liberated, our generation of women can claim their place in the kitchen where cultural exchanges take place, where one takes pleasure and enjoys a sense of community, and this is in no way degrading to contemporary women. I completely own this stereotype in a positive way… and I do so in Spanish since I make empanadas!

What are the different elements of your work?
I have artistic training as a textile designer, and I’ve been specializing in the design of knitted fabrics for about a decade. But I’ve turned to cooking for the past two years (even though it has always been a passion of mine). Somewhat by accident, I started a company that delivers empanadas (small filled pastries: salty, sweet, and even gluten free) at home in Paris. The empanadas are different based on the season, they are custom-made and prepared fresh daily, with love!

What do you do to refresh and recharge yourself?
A walk in the Landes pine forest to go to the ocean. It’s the most peaceful place in the world.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
I fight off a kissing attack from my daughter. I take advantage of it as I don’t think it’s going to last.

What makes you feel strong and confident?
To surpass myself physically. After I’m done surfing I feel like I can take over the world.

What woman from history would you have liked to be?
The Queen of England!

What is your favorite movie?
“The Greasy Hands Preachers,” a feature-length documentary directed by my husband Arthur and my daughter’s godfather Clement Beauvais. It’s about men who have found happiness in manual labor.

What is a cause that is important to you?
I regularly make donations to an association created by my friend Ruben Galanski, TASAAGA, which builds schools and a future for all the children of an entire community in Uganda. But what matters the most to me is probably the happiness of my family. I often make sacrifices for them!

What are you most proud of?
I’m a mom, silly. My daughter Iris, obviously.
