DVF was ready to Rendez-vous today as we showed our Fall/Winter 2012 Collection under the tents at Lincoln Center.
Lights flashed from the pit as DVFaithfuls Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims, Solange Knowles, Gia Coppola, Giovanna Battaglia, Fabiola Beracasa, Coco Brandolini, Elletra Wiedemann, Anderson Cooper, Graydon Carter, Oscar de la Renta and Barbara Walters took their front row seats.
The anticipation of the onlookers was reflected on the runway itself, with a collection inspired by those moments of expectation and suspense that lead up to a Rendez-Vous.
"It is all about mystery," said Diane, wearing a bright chartreuse top over a sleek black pencil skirt, finished with a bright fucshia belt.
She flashed a wink as she sprayed DIANE the fragrance down the runway just before dress rehearsal, with the same air of mischief Creative Director Yvan Mispelaere alluded to when describing the woman who inspired this collection.
"She's on her way...she is ready for anything and there is something a little bit dangerous about her."
Second skin sequins, sleek pencil skirts, shining trenches and billowing dresses all came together in a surreal vision of roseberries and scarlet reds, seafoam greens and deep lapis blues.
Accessories were playful with a touch of humor: from a cherry red round leather clutch, to a refined Harper daybag refreshed with fur, and a bright envelope clutch embellished with a pair of lips. Metallic heeled booties and ankle strap pumps added just the right amount of edge.
In other words, this Rendez-Vous was all about expectations, and it's safe to say they were met.
