Paula Sutter has served as President of Diane von Furstenberg since 1999. Under her direction, the DVF brand has grown into the lifestyle luxury brand it is today. DVF has expanded to a full collection of ready-to-wear and accessories including shoes, handbags, small leather goods, scarves, and fine jewelry. The company also offers luggage, eyewear, and home furnishings. DVF is now sold in over 55 countries, including 85 DVF owned and partnered stores throughout North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
After graduating from Villanova University with a degree in business and English, Paula began her fashion career at the Madison Avenue Design Group, a multi-line showroom. Her interest in fashion combined with her natural tendency to be sales-driven landed her a position in the sales department at Donna Karan. Six years later, she had worked her way up to Vice President of Sales, running all domestic divisions of DKNY including DKNY clothing, Classics, and Specialty Sizes.
In 1998, Paula joined Diane von Furstenberg as a consultant to help DVF re-enter the fashion market with the brand she had made famous in the 70’s. One year later, she was hired as President with the task of re-launching, rebuilding, and rebranding DVF. Today, the legacy of DVF lives on, and Paula continues to strategically grow the business.
In addition to her business pursuits, Paula sits on the Board of Directors for Women In Need, mentors young designers for the CFDA as a member of the CVFF Business Advisory Committee, and volunteers as a teacher and mentor at the Harlem Village Charter School. She lives with her family in New York City.
