Joel J. Horowitz
Joel J. Horowitz joined DVF as Co-Chairman in 2012. Joel began his career over 40 years ago at Polo Ralph Lauren, where he served in many capacities throughout his tenure. He later joined Murjani International, Ltd., and in 1984, he was appointed President of the designer division, which included the initial development of the Tommy Hilfiger business. From 1986 to 1989, Joel served as President of Murjani International, Ltd. In March of 1989, Mr. Horowitz, together with Mr. Hilfiger, joined forces with their partners to form Tommy Hilfiger, Inc.
From 1989 to 1994, Joel served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company and then as Chief Executive Officer from 1994 to 2003. He became Executive Chairman of the Board in February 2003 and in April 2005 he transitioned to Non-Executive Chairman of the Board. He retired on October 31, 2005. In 2006, Mr. Horowitz, along with a management group and Apax Partners, Inc., took Tommy Hilfiger Corporation private, selling to Phillips Van-Heusen in 2010.
In addition to DVF, Joel has been an active investor in online retail opportunities, as well as deeply involved in philanthropic endeavors.
From 2000 to 2011, Joel served as a member of the Executive Leadership Committee of The Memorial Foundation, builders of the Martin Luther King Jr., Memorial in Washington, DC.
Joel is also Co-Founder and Trustee of The Friends of Families with Children in Crisis Foundation which provides financial assistance to teenagers needing emotional growth education. In addition, The Horowitz Family Foundation supports many causes focused on children and the environment.
